Holiday Colonnade
Sarah Bond
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas as the holiday season approaches. The University of Illinois-Springfield campus is getting decked out with lights and decorations for the holidays. The annual lighting of the colonnade took place November 14th. A celebration with food and students to kick off the upcoming holidays. Students around campus are beginning to decorate their townhouses, apartments and dorms with lights and Christmas trees. With finals coming up, many UIS students are preparing for the final days of the semester and getting ready to head back home. The colonnade is one of the few reminders of the various traditions that UIS students have and all share for the holidays. UIS student Austin Lukaschewski shares his winter break plans and what he is most excited for; “Going back home to Michigan to see all my friends that I don’t get to see during the school year. Were also going to take a road trip to Canada over at Windsor, so that should be really fun.”
