Holiday Walks Kickoff in Downtown Springfield, IL

The political season is finally over and Christmas is right around the corner. Downtown Springfield is in full holiday mode kicking off the annual Holiday Walks. This year the theme is “Through the Decades.” Each storefront window downtown will display the theme as well as everything Christmas related. The opening day of the Holiday Walks is on November 26, when the lighting of the Christmas tree takes place at 7:30p.m. Store owners get excited about this time of the year because there is heavy traffic flow into their stores. This year many are offering customers door prizes and refreshments. “I would say probably half of our sales in December are from the Holiday Walks. Everybody loves them. We give out snacks, and usually Rolling Meadows Brewery is here, giving out samples. We also have wine and things for kids and adults alike. The Holiday Walks bring in more than half of the year’s revenue according to local store owners downtown
