Over the past ten years the University of Illinois Springfield added several key buildings and art pieces on campus. But that is not all that has changed. During that time Information Technology grew to the third largest major on campus and is drawing students from around the world.
A recent visit to an IT classroom illustrated this point. Of the forty students in the class, 96 percent of them were of Indian descent. UIS admissions data also shows that since 2008, international enrollment increased from two hundred to over one thousand students.
With below average tuition rates and above average salaries for IT graduates, UIS may continue to enroll more international students in the future.
